Report on Aerial Bombardment by Military Warplanes in Nyala City and Belil Area, South Darfur State

Date: November 11, 2024

Introduction:

Nyala and Belil areas have been subjected to severe violations targeting civilians and essential infrastructure, with indiscriminate attacks by military aircraft. These assaults on critical civilian facilities have not only devastated lives but have also deliberately blocked humanitarian aid, exacerbating the daily suffering of the local population. Despite ongoing appeals, international bodies have yet to take serious steps to intervene, while the former regime and its militias, including the Al-Bara and Special Action brigades, continue committing horrific crimes. These forces are notorious for their record of aerial attacks and the use of internationally banned weapons, as previously witnessed in Darfur and the Nuba Mountains, including the use of chemical weapons in Jebel Marra and the systematic killing of children in Heiban. Estimates indicate that nearly one thousand civilians lost their lives in October 2024 alone due to aerial bombardment.>>> Read the report>> Report on Aerial Bombardment by Military Warplanes in Nyala City and Belil Area, South Darfur State, Nov11
