Sudanese women have demonstrated extraordinary powers, standing firm against dictatorships and demanding justice and equality, said; the Sudanese Feminist, Mrs. Tahani Abbas, the Executive Director of Nora Organization.
In her remarks in Nairobi during the launching of the (16) Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence (GBV), Mrs. Abbas said; historically, women in Sudan have shown astonishing powers and determination, that drives them to protect their communities and advocate for accountability during the war. Their unwavering tenacity proves they are not just survivors, but also leaders and agents of change, Tahani Abbas added.
She revealed that, the campaign also includes a number of discussion sessions with Sudanese women and girls in Kampala and at the refugees’ camp in Uganda; “these discussions aim to deepen dialogue and understanding around mechanisms to defend the rights and dignity of Sudanese women”.
She explained that; the discussions also provide an opportunity to explore innovative approaches and strategies to address sexual violence during this brutal ongoing conflict as well as ensuring protection of women and girls both inside Sudan and at refugee camps.
The last Friday campaign launched in Nairobi, was organized throw coordination of Nora Organization and SalaaMedia Center, with support of United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Annually, a number of countries globally launch (16) Days of Activism against GBV, starting November 25th and end by celebrating the International Human Rights Day on December 10th.
