2025

With funding from the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), DT Institute supports SalaaMedia under Building Inclusive Peace in Sudan (BIPS) to carry out counter narratives and disinformation campaigns in Sudan.

This program is funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) through the Life and Peace Institute (LPI), where SalaaMedia conducts Sustained Peace Dialogue Sessions, including trauma healing exercises. It targets diverse young Sudanese men and women, considering gender, political, ethnic, religious, and occupational representation. The project focuses on collective healing and building consensus among dialogue participants.

2024

This project marked the third engagement of Freedom House and SalaaMedia, It was dedicated to advocate for land rights in Darfur throughout and following the ongoing conflict, with the goal of advancing justice and fostering peace in the region.

Through funds from DT Global / Step-up Program SalaaMedia created a media network focused on raising awareness and advocacy for the situation in Darfur, by providing accurate and timely information to audiences around the globe.

2022

Following the successful pilot intervention in 2021, Freedom House decided to expand the project to include all five states of Darfur, advocating for land rights of local communities affected by conflict.

Funded by Chomenics and USAID, SalaaMedia intervened to bridge the gap between media and community base orgnizations in Port Sudan – Red Sea State, to enhance communications and conflict resolution among local communities.

2021

With support from Freedom House, this project aimed to address land rights issues and advocate for justice in South Darfur State.

For the benefit of Search for Common Ground (SCG) SalaaMedia conducted a baseline survey in Khartoum, Blue Nile, South, and West Kordofan States, this survey gathered data on conflicts and gender issues to guide peace interventions.

2020

Commissioned by UNESCO, SalaaMedia trained 52 media professionals in Gadarif State to fight fake news, enhancing journalistic accuracy and accountability.

Through this self-funded initiative, SalaaMedia trained 70 journalists, including 30 women , on media strategies for peace and sensitive reporting in conflict zones, in collaboration with the Darfur Journalists’ Association.

This self-funded campaign encouraged Sudanese journalists, athletes, and artists to produce and share peace-themed content, aiming to generate 10 million videos promoting peace.

A self-funded one-day workshop to introduce peace journalism principles and practices targeting 50 participants including 27 women journalists and civil society actors.

2019

A self-funded campaign promoting peace through events like female soccer matches, handcraft exhibitions, and rare plantation donations. It culminated in a celebration on International Peace Day.

2018

SalaaMedia conducted four self-funded workshops in Khartoum, trained over 80 young journalists and civil rights activists on peace journalism and conflict-sensitive reporting.

2017

SalaaMedia’s first self-funded project serving as a platform for independant journalists and promoting peace in Sudan.
